IPC - Buildings

Welcome back year 2!

Our new topic is ‘Buildings’ and this half term we will be focusing on significant buildings around the world. We will be looking at important historical structures such as the Eiffel Tower, London Bridge and the Taj Mahal. We are looking forward to learning all about different buildings and their uses.

In English we are focusing on traditional tales and will even be writing some of our own! We will be planning, writing and editing our own versions of traditional stories and explore the use of different types of punctuation, story language and description.

In maths we will be looking at place value and using this to compare and order numbers. We will also look at addition and subtraction, building on the facts we have learnt in Year One.

Y2 1

Our Science topic this term is called ‘Materials’. We will be looking at a range of materials to determine their uses and suitability for different purposes.

Please find below the homework menu for this half term.  Choose one task to do every week and return your completed activity, with your homework book on Thursday.  Your book will be marked and returned on Monday.

Reading Records should be in school every day whether your child has read or not, this is so that we can record any comments during daily guided reading sessions.  Your child will be choosing their own reading books in Year 2, changing the books themselves every morning.
