Home Learning, not Home Schooling

During these challenging times, you may be worrying about your child’s development and the impact of missing school.  Please be reassured by the government’s statement below:

‘No one expects parents to act as teachers, or to provide the activities and feedback that a school would. Parents and carers should do their best to help children and support their learning while dealing with competing demands.’

Live Streaming of Lessons

Some parents have asked whether our teachers will be providing live lessons online. Across The Pioneer Academy, we have decided not to do this because we know that some families in our communities do not have the technology or the circumstances at home to support this kind of learning.  It could also be the case that some households only have limited numbers of devices that can access online resources, so we are focusing on supporting our children to learn in the most widely accessible ways possible.

Twitter Tasks

We are delighted to be able to confirm that the first ‘Twitter Tasks’ will be uploaded on Monday 27 April. To access these, we recommend you follow us on Twitter:  @thePioneerTPA.

Managing Anxiety

There will be days when you do not achieve what you have planned for the day or your child may not finish a piece of home learning.  This is nothing to worry about, instead give your child a cuddle, play a game, watch the television or read a book together.  When this challenging time is over, our children will have had the benefit of experiencing the world at a slower pace and learnt what truly matters in their lives.

Please do not worry about your child falling behind in their learning. When everyone is back in their classrooms, our teachers will adapt lessons and revise the curriculum to meet all the children’s needs.
